AKINLADE ABIODUN TO BENEFIT FROM PRESIDENT'S LIST TO RETURN TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE RECORD FIFTH TIME

In an attempt to retain experienced hands, sustenance of legislative convention and practices in the country, the ruling party - All Progressives Congress (APC) has come up with methods and modalities that will bring stability into Nigeria legislative houses to prevent parliamentary memory loss and high level of turnover of lawmakers in the National Assembly.

To ensure this principle is sustained, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signaled his desire to return "willing long term" legislatures back to the National Assembly.

According to a source within the All Progressives Congress, “Law making is a serious business that requires legislative experience, the rate at which we change our representative at every election will erase legislative memory and increase instability in the law making proceedings. The more a lawmaker stay in the parliament the better it is  for the constituency they are representing in particular and the nation at large”

“Legislature needs experienced hands. So what the presidency has done is to conduct a discreet assessment of lawmakers that are valuable to the parliaments and are supportive to the Renewed Hope agenda of Mr President."

Not fewer than 100 House of Representatives members and 35 Senators are to return to National Assembly under this consideration to provide legislative experience ,  stability and smooth take-off of the President’s second term.”
One of the likely beneficiaries of this well-thought out policy is Rt. Hon Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, an experienced and ranking member of the parliament representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in Ogun State falls into this category of those selected.

“To strengthen the parliament and provide a smooth take off of the 11th National Assembly, many trusted and experienced members of House of Representatives and the Senate  must be retained“ another senior APC source said.
