Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo has assured indigenes of the state living in the diaspora of guaranteed security ahead of the yuletide.

This is contained in a release by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Sunday.

The governor gave the assurance at the 2021 Imo Cultural Day celebrations, organised by the Imo Towns Development Association, Lagos (ISTDAL), on Sunday.

Uzodimma, represented by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Declan Emelumba, praised members of the association for promoting Imo cultural heritage in Lagos.

He advised the indigenes not to listen to propaganda and fabricated social media publications about the security situation in the state, adding that the situation had been brought under control.

He also urged them to visit home regularly so as to appraise the level of development going on in the state and promised to host the executive members of the association during the yuletide.

“When you come home, you will be amazed at the massive road construction and rehabilitation which has been carried out by my administration in less than two years.

“We have introduced ‘the people’s budget’ which enables town unions to advise the government on what their people actually need and these are actually included in the budget,” he said. (NAN)

Imo needs a united House of Assembly, Uzodimma tells members.

Governor Hope Uzodimma has challenged members of the Imo State House of Assembly to work as a team and trust each other if they want to make the desired impact. 

He has also reiterated that he will not interfere in their independence as an arm of government but rather partner with the members on how to serve Imo people better.

Governor Uzodimma spoke Monday night when he received the newly elected Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe, representing Obowo Constituency, who replaced former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, on Monday following his removal by his colleagues.

Speaking at the New Executive Chambers, Government House Owerri,  Governor Uzodimma urged the lawmakers to work as a team and eschew tendencies that cause division among them.

He congratulated the lawmakers for resolving to elect the Speaker of their choice peacefully without external interference, saying "what happened that resulted into a peaceful and democratic election of the new Speaker is a victory for democracy."

He called on them to work towards a united House where there will be mutual trust.  “Imo State needs a united, functional, effective and efficient House of Assembly that will work towards giving the people the desired dividends of democracy."

The Governor noted that as a democrat he submits to the doctrine of  Separation of Powers, insisting that "when this is fully applied the three arms will surely deliver on their mandate."

He called on the members to imbibe the spirit of team work, requesting that they  "forgive each other and forge ahead."

Governor Uzodimma also reminded the lawmakers that God is the ultimate decider of what anyone will be in life and, or what position one will occupy as a human being.

He emphasized that all the arms of government must strive to contribute their quota to serve Imo State better, noting that "whether as an Executive, Legislature or Judiciary member if government succeeds it is for all of us, and when it fails they have all failed."

Governor Uzodimma pleaded with the new Assembly leadership to "forgive the past and forge a new alliance that will make Imo State House of Assembly the best in Nigeria."

Highlighting the need for an interface between the party in power and the other arms of government, the Governor proposed that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State gets more involved and work towards ensuring that a caucus meeting is held monthly with the lawmakers to discuss those things that will take the State to greater heights.

He reassured the Imo House of Assembly members of his willingness to keep every promise he made to them on assumption of office that would help enhance their legislative functions. 

“Bring down your eyes and do more work.  Whoever that will occupy any position is for a time. The opportunity is always one at a time. Therefore, bring in pragmatism into your work and make legislative business attractive and interesting."

Governor Uzodimma charged the new Speaker to "go back to the drawing board, reengineer and resuscitate the House of Assembly by carrying every member along for a better productivity to the benefit and well-being of Imo people."

Presenting the new Speaker to the Governor,  the member representing Njaba State Constituency,  Rt. Hon. Uju Onwudiwe described him as  "a reliable, trusted and experienced member of the House" and that they "promised to work  together to achieve a viable House of Assembly."

Hon. Eddy Obinna representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency described Rt. Hon. Speaker Kennedy Ibe as a "round peg in a round hole," assuring that "there will be no more rumbles in the State House of Assembly."

Also, Hon. Crown Michael Njoku of Ihitte Uboma State Constituency said that all members of the House of Assembly with the exception of very few are fully in support of the emergence of the Speaker and that with Rt. Hon. Ibe on the leadership seat they will now go into serious business and bring out good motions and bills that will move Imo State forward.

In his speech, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe thanked the Governor for finding time to receive them and prayed God to help him leave up to the expectations of his colleagues and Imo State in general.

He promised that the House under his watch will be "productive, efficient and effective" and that he will not take his unanimous election by his colleagues  for granted. 

He apologized for the past distractions associated with the House of Assembly and promised a "viable and vibrant House that will support the 3R mantra and assist his Excellency move Imo State to the zenith level."

Those present at the event were: the Chairman of Imo State APC, MacDonald Ebere, his predecessor, Marcellinus Nlemigbo, Secretary to State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu,  Chief of Staff Government House,  Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie,  Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,  Barr. C.O.C Akaolisa, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba and other top government officials.

The Speaker was accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu, the Majority Leader, Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, the Majority Whip, Hon. Arthur Egwim, the two former Speakers: Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins and Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem were all present. 

Also present was the Imo APC Secretary, Engr. Greg Madu.

"I Am Heartbroken": Ade Bash Reveals How His Girlfriend Eloped With Another Lover. By- St. Kay

A prominent supporter of Prince Dapo Abiodun, Mr. Bashiru Adegboyega popularly called Ade Bash is heartbroken.

In a message released by a young versatile politician, Ade Bash expressed disappointments over how one of his girlfriend married this last weekend without him getting to know about the whole process.

"One of my girlfriend marry during the weekend, caught me unaware", said Bashiru in a message made available to media.

Sounding confident that he will definitely survive this heartbreak, the red-lips socialite simply referred to the loss of her estranged girlfriend as just "minus one" followed by "we move".

Reacting, Comr. Adegbokiki Kamorudeen urged Ade Bash to take heart and wished that other deceitful associates just like this lover of him shall be exposed by God sooner. 

The Ogun Central APC Youth League Coordinator, Elder Timothy Odedina in a rather confusing statement admonish the visibly downcasted Bashiru not to loose hope as saying "You can still marry her, Don't lose hope."

Several friends and associates has therefore reached out to Ade Bash to rather console him over this incident.

Commissioning of Multipurpose Hall at Ijofin. As his love for his people remains indelible, he commissioned a multipurpose hall named after the town monarch, Oba Raufu Awode, at Ijofin in Ipokia Local Government.

Construction of Students’ Hall at Area Community High School, Owode, completed but yet to be commissioned.

Provision of 5000kva transformer at Nabda Isaga, Ilaro road.

Electrification of Akinlade Road at Isga Owode.

Construction and Commissioning of Hon. Abiodun Akinlade road at Bio-resource environs.

Capacity building training of 300 people on various fields of agriculture namely: fishery, snail breeding, grass -cutter, and propagation of breadfruit and plantains, etc.

Scholarship Award: Recently, He gave full scholarship award (with full boarding from JSS1 to SSS 3) to the best primary six student from Baptist Primary School Oke-Odan, Yewa South and one indigent student from primary school Agosasa, Ipokia Local Govt into The Gem int'l School, Owode Yewa, Ogun State.

Social Welfare: In his own personal efforts in this COVID-19 pandemic, he provides succour to various people by providing cash and food items.

The Comptroller, Nigerian Customs Service, Ogun 1 Command, Comptroller Ojobo Micheal Agbara has described Ogun State as a peaceful state and a worthy partner in the progress of the nation, noting that his Command will continue to do the needful at ensuring that the border communities of the State are secure against economic saboteurs.

Comptroller Agbara, who made this known at the Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, shortly after he had a meeting with the State Governor on the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service in the State, described the Governor as a father-figure and an experienced leader who in the past eleven months of coming into power had been aiming for a well-structured security architecture.

Agbara, who was with his Ogun 2 Command Comptroller of the Customs Service, Comptroller Gregory Itotoh, and the Brigade Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Brigadier General Ehimwenman Amadasun, also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic is a worldwide phenomenon which needs all hands to be on deck, urging the people of the State to follow all guidelines and advisory by the government.

"Our meeting with the Governor was very fruitful. He is a father and an experienced man who has seen the whole world. He knows what Customs is all about. Generally, Ogun State people are peaceful, but COVID-19 is a worldwide phenomenon that spares nobody, so we should all do what we can and should do to ensure that it does not spread further. All we need to do is keep to the guidelines and ensure that people comply," he said.

The Ogun State Governor, at the meeting, made the Customs Service understand that in carrying out their duty of revenue generation, they should do so with regard for human lives. He added that the setting up of Mobile Courts has helped bring to the notice of the people of the State that the pandemic is no child's play.

"In carrying out your duties, you have to do it with the divine milk of human kindness and ensure that fatalities are not recorded while carrying out your activities, because we know the situation we are in now. Everywhere is tensed, and we need to just have a balance between having to generate revenue and then considering the lives of the people. The setting up of the Mobile Court has helped a lot, because it has brought about a sort of sensitisation to the people that Covid-19 is not ‘for fun,’" he said.

Olowu of Kuta, Osun State, His Royal majesty Oba Adekunle  Oyelude Makama, Tegbosin 11, has counseled the National Assembly and  Nigerians calling for the sack of the service chiefs to have a rethink.
The monarch says the Nigerian security situation call for holistic appraisal instead of quick fix which we have embarked on to tackle the Insurgency.
Oluwu in a statement issued by his Media Office on Thursday said the call seemed to be hasty and transferred aggression to the service chiefs who have sacrificed a lot to defend the territorial integrity and the internal security of the country.
The revered monarch who maintained that though the security of the country needs to be overhauled for optimum performance, he said people should know that the military alone is not to be blamed for the lapses, how far have we pursued Political options,
He, however, advised that stampeding the service chiefs out will not be the best way to appreciate their efforts.
Oba Makama said; “ The Senate and House of Representatives motions that the service chiefs should resign or be sacked is not the best way to appreciate their efforts. The danger inherent in such motions is that it will not only demoralized the officers and men who would feel let down by such decision, those coming to take over from them may be reluctant since it is the same military considering the monumental impact the present military leadership has made towards professionalism in the Army that we're not talking of, I think when dealing with the issue of security, we should be circumspect so as not to jeopardize the success we have achieved bearing in mind that fighting insurgents is not a conventional warfare. Again, what’s the budget of the defense this year? How will a military fighting insurgents, fighting armed banditry, kidnapping and other several operations within the country cope with such meager budget? What’s the role of the DSS, NSDC, Police, Immigration, Customs in a situation like this?” are they equipped to  compliment the military gains in the  war fronts,He asked.
Olowu said it is crystal clear that our military is overstretch and       to support the military in fighting the insurgents vis a vis Political options  Should be our Collective responsibility,
He also counseled that once a military clears an area and rid it of Boko Haram elements, the onus is on the police and NSDC and other security agents to occupy the area to secure it.
He is also of the opinion that the Sambisa Forest ought to have been developed and used for extended mechanized farming once the military clears it instead of leaving it fallow for the insurgents to return and occupy the place, our De- Radicalisation policy should be Reviewed.
“ I think we need to do a critical appraisal of the insurgents with the view of proffering  lasting solution that will be in the interest of all and sundry. Like the Borno Governor remarked two days ago that many of the elected public officials do not want to hear the truth. I think we need to tell ourselves the blunt truth, instead of resorting to fire brigade approach of treating the symptoms, instead of holistic treatment of the issues “ . He added.
