PDP NATIONAL CHAIRMAN POSITION: SOUTH-WEST BATTLES SOUTH-SOUTH

The contest for the PDP National Chairman position will be strictly between the South-West and south-south of the country.
Checks into the history of the Zones that have produced the NO1 position of the once acclaimed Africa Largest Party shows that the two Geo-Political Zones are the ones yet to have party members from the region as it's Chief Executive Officer.
For avoidance of doubt, the 18year-old Party started it's Chairmanship with Dr. Alex Ekwueme from Anambra State (South-East) followed by Chief Solomon Lar who hails from Plateau, North-Central.
Chief Barnabas Gemade from Benue State (North-Central) succeeded Chief Lar while Audu Ogbe also from Benue State takeover from Chief Barnabas. Ahmadu Ali (Kogi, North-Central), Chief Vincent Ogbulafor Abia (South-East), Okwesileze Nwodo from Enugu South-East, Dr. Haliru Mohammed (Kebbi, North-West) followed by Alhaji Kawu Baraje from North-Central Kwara were all spearheading the management of the Party till 2012.
After the protest exit of Baraje of the "New PDP" Dr Bamanga Tukur from Adamawa North East Region became the Party Chairman till 2014 when Alhaji Adamu Muazu became Party Chairman until after the general election which saw the Party loosing the power to All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff was subsequently made the Party Chairman in 2015 following a court order. Senator Sheriff also of the North-East Region was succeeded by Senator Makarfi of Kaduna State, North-West.
In all these, thirteen (13) Chairmen have been rotating within 4 Geo-Political Zones leaving out South-West Zone and South-South Zone.
In summary, the North-East Region produced three Chairmen of the Party while North-West also have produced the Chairman of the Party twice.
North-Central is the largest Region to have filled the post with highest number of members from the Region having had five (5) different personalities as PDP Chairmen leaving South-East with three (3) occupiers of the Party Chairmanship.
Two Regions, South-West and South-South are the only region missing.
