PDP NATIONAL CHAIRMAN POSITION (2): MAKING CASE FOR SOUTH-WEST REGION

After my piece synchronising the past and present political arrangements within the PDP as it affects the position of National Chairman, my attention has been called to the fact that ONLY South-West Geo-Political Zone is yet to have a taste of that position.

In highlighting defense for  this new postulation, it was observed that Chief Uche Secondus had occupied the post (although in Acting Capacity). The observers also noted that the time spent by Chief Secondus was as much as time spent by the pioneer Chairman of the Party, Chief Alex Ekwueme in 1998 before handing over to Chief Solomon Lar.
This traditionally has left only the South-West as the only Zone yet to lead the PDP.

Aside that, another school of thought has also noted that the South-West is the only Region not duly represented at the National level. While the South-East Region is proud to have the Deputy Senate President, the South-South region is having Senator Godswill Akpabio from Akwa-Ibom State as Senate Minority Leader and RT. Hon.Leo Ogor from Delta State as House of Reps Minority Leader respectively.

The third School of thought for the South-West Geo-Political Zone to produce the next Party Chairman was based on the fact that ONLY the region has the least PDP Governors from the Region. While South-East is having 3 PDP Governors, South-South with 5 Governors (leaving out Edo that's almost coming to the PDP fold), the South-West is left with just 2 State Excecutives representing the Party.

While all these arguments was going on, the Political elites from the South-West Region have concluded that the only reason they will support PDP is when the Political Shortchanging arrangements that have put the Region on the back seat is corrected with urgent and practicable steps within the Party.
